7 signs your website is costing you customers

Your website should be your hardest-working salesperson. Here are seven warning signs it's quietly turning people away — and what to do about each one.

7 signs your website is costing you customers

A website that looks "fine" can still be losing you business every single day. Here are the seven signs to watch for.

1. It's slow to load

Most visitors leave a site that takes more than three seconds to load. If yours is sluggish on a phone, people are gone before they see anything.

2. It's hard to use on mobile

More than half of all web traffic is mobile. If visitors have to pinch and zoom, or your buttons are tiny, you're losing the majority of your audience.

3. There's no clear next step

Every page should make the next action obvious — call, book, or get a quote. If a visitor has to hunt for how to contact you, most won't bother.

4. It doesn't build trust

No reviews, no real photos, no clear "who we are" — and visitors quietly move on to a competitor who feels more legitimate.

5. Your contact info is buried

Your phone number and location should be visible and tappable. On a phone, a customer should be able to call you in one tap.

6. It looks dated

Design signals credibility. A site that looks like it's from 2012 tells customers your business might be behind the times too.

7. It never shows up in search

If you can't find your own business on Google, neither can your customers. Basic SEO and a Google Business Profile are essential.

What to do about it

You don't have to fix all seven at once. Start with speed and mobile — they affect everyone. If more than a couple of these sound familiar, it may be time for a refresh. We'd be happy to take a look and tell you honestly what's worth changing.
